M27500 Shielded Cable

M27500 mil-spec shielded cable, stocked in Canada. Available in 22 AWG with 1, 2, 3 or 4 conductors, and 18 AWG 2 conductor. Sold by the foot with no minimum order.

Shielded cable protects signal circuits from the electrical noise a running engine produces. Anywhere a small voltage signal has to survive alongside ignition and injector wiring, the shield is what stops that noise reaching your ECU — CAN bus, knock sensors, wideband oxygen sensors, cam and crank position, and any low-level sensor input.

Choosing a conductor count. One conductor for single-ended signals like a knock sensor. Two for anything differential — CAN high and low, or a sensor pair. Three and four for multi-wire sensors or several signals running the same route in one sheath.

The 18 AWG option carries more current than the 22 AWG range, which makes it the right choice for ignition coil circuits where the signal wire also has to handle the load.

Terminating the shield. Use a solder sleeve to bond the drain wire to the braid in one operation. Ground the shield at one end only — grounding both ends creates a loop and defeats the purpose of shielding it.
