Collection: Splices

Uninsulated crimp butt splices, 18-22 AWG through 0/1 AWG, including Raychem Mini-Seal. Bare barrel, crimp only — seal with SCL or ATUM adhesive lined heat shrink after crimping.

Why bare rather than pre-insulated. A pre-insulated splice gives you no way to inspect the crimp, and the moulded sleeve isn't a real seal. Crimping bare and finishing with SCL or ATUM lets you check the joint before you cover it, and gives you a proper adhesive seal over the barrel and both wire insulations. On a harness that will see vibration, heat cycling and moisture, that's the difference between a splice that lasts and one that becomes an intermittent five years later.

Sizing. Match the splice to your wire gauge. Too large and the barrel won't grip the conductors properly; too small and the wire won't seat.

The Raychem Mini-Seal is the mil-spec option in the same uninsulated crimp format.
